Leadership Team

Dr. Shota Ikeda is the Head of Cardurion KK, Cardurion’s Japanese Subsidiary and Executive Director, Drug Discovery, responsible for all scientific and administrative activities of Cardurion KK. Shota also leads the biology team of Cardurion KK.  Prior to joining Cardurion, Shota spent over 25 years at Takeda Pharmaceuticals in basic science and drug discovery culminating in his role as Associate Director, Cardiovascular and Metabolic Drug Discovery, where he contributed significantly as a project leader and a key contributor in multiple drug discovery projects for heart failure, atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction, angina, hypertension, PAD, and CKD.  In 2006, Shota spent a sabbatical year at Columbia University Medical Center with Dr. Ira J. Goldberg investigating mechanisms of cardiac lipotoxicity. He obtained his B.S., M.Sc., and ultimately his Ph.D. degree in Pharmacology in 2001 from the University of Tokyo, Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Science.
